Rebuilding Renson's dealer platform to support a shift to 80% digital ordering

Renson helps dealers and internal sales teams configure and order its products, but the existing platform couldn't support the company's push toward 80% digital ordering. It needed a ground-up rebuild that worked equally well for external dealers and internal operations. The new modular platform, RIO, streamlined the order process from configuration to follow-up, and proved robust enough to scale from Outdoor to Renson's Indoor business unit without starting over.

The challenge & goal

Renson aimed to shift 80% of all orders to digital channels, but the existing dealer platform lacked the structure and usability to support that transition.

A fully reimagined platform—both functionally and visually—that better supports Renson dealers and internal sales operations.

Validating assumptions and specifying user needs

To deliver true value, we first needed to understand the gap between the existing platform and actual user needs. Through stakeholder interviews and user journey mapping, we identified pain points and inefficiencies in both the external dealer experience as well as the internal sales processes. In addition, we ensured that the redesigned order flow would align seamlessly with Renson’s internal operations.

Design exploration

Creating high-fidelity wireframes allowed us to test and iterate each step of the flow, involving users early and often. Interactive prototypes provided clear alignment with the Renson team, reducing rework during development and creating shared ownership over the final product.

Final solution

The result was a redesigned, modular platform with an intuitive interface, tailored order flows, and improved integration with internal tools. The platform supports both dealers and internal users, streamlining the entire order process from configuration to follow-up.

Outcome

Following the full development of the RIO Outdoor ordering platform, Renson was able to successfully scale the solution to its Indoor business unit. Although this unit involves different stakeholders and distinct requirements, the robust foundation of the platform enabled seamless adaptation to support their specific workflows.
